School Research Projects

At Orchard Infant School, we pride ourselves in being a research-driven school. This means we actively engage with current research and evidence to enhance and inform our high quality teaching. We have proudly been featured in an academic research report published by the University of Winchester, with case studies from Orchard Infant School, which outlines the work which we have been involved in recently and the exciting impact it has had on our teaching and the children's learning opportunities. Creativity Research project 2023 (3 year research project)

Our current research project is all about teaching for creativity. In October 2021, Arts Council England launched a Creativity Collaboratives programme to build a network of schools across England focussed on developing and testing innovative approaches to teaching for creativity across the curriculum. We are proudly one of the schools selected to be involved with the research project. We have been actively engaging in research around teaching children to be creative thinkers and fostering children's creativity in all areas of the school curriculum. 

The overall aim of the project is to enrich children's life chances by developing them into confident and creative problem-solvers, engaging them through authentic, meaningful problems, embedded in their schools and lives. 

We have learned that creativity is a process that can be planned for, taught and monitored. Creativity can be instilled and nurtured in every single person through a range of creative habits and behaviours. 

The implications of being so involved within a research project is that we get to see first hand the positive impact it has on our children's learning experiences. It provides us the opportunity as a school to remain current, up-to-date and offer the best learning experiences to your children.
