A Typical Day in Early Years

 

8:45

Children welcomed in to the classroom – the children begin to settle in, and are introduced to ‘morning jobs’ which they come and start in the classroom

Register and make lunch selection

Wriggly Writers – children begin to watch and learn our ‘Wake up, Shake up’ song, and take part in activities to strengthen their fine and gross motor skills.

Busy Bee time – children can choose their learning through play. As the weeks progress, this is  the point when the class teacher will work with children in small groups, focusing on reading and writing activities

11:15

Children will have tidied up and washed their hands ready for lunch.

Family Group time – opportunity to focus on speaking and listening, personal, social and emotional development in smaller group sessions.

 

11:35/11:40

Lunch in the hall. Children go up to the hall as a year group with their lunchtime supervisor. Class teachers also stay for the first half term, to settle children and support them where necessary.

Afternoon register

Maths – this will begin with counting songs, number recognition and focus on a specific skill.

Busy Bee time/ Adult focus on a number related activity with children in small groups.

Tidy up time

Children to prepare for home. Golden Clipboard ‘Story of the day’

End of the day – children go home
