A Typical Day in Early Years

Children are welcomed at the garden gates and walk into the classrooms by themselves.

They put away their own belongings, choose their lunch, then have a go at a morning activity.

'Wake Up, Shake Up' dance, followed by Phonics learning.

Wriggly Writers – children take part in activities to strengthen their fine and gross motor skills.

Busy Bee time – children follow their own interests and choose where to spend their time playing in the classroom and outside in our learning gardens. The classroom adults play alongside children and lead fun small group activities to practice reading and writing skills each week.

 10:15

Snack and Chat - the children wash their hands, eat a piece of fruit and talk about their learning activities. The adults might introduce new vocabulary or help the children plan their next activities in Busy Bee time.

 11:15

Tidy up - The children tidy up, then go to the toilet and wash their hands ready for lunch.

Story time –  we share a story every day, fostering a love of books and reading.

Lunch in the school hall. The children are taken to the hall where they are met by their lunchtime supervisors. Class teachers also stay with the children for the first half term, to settle the children and help support them.

Maths – we focus on a specific skill each week, then children complete group activities during Busy Bee time.

Tidy up - the children help put everything away at the end of each day

 

2:30Listening Lola Time - the children join in with games and circle time activities to develop their attention, listening and communication skills. This also helps them to develop their social skills.

End of the day – children are collected from the garden gates.
