Orchard Infant School

Ofsted Report Department of Education

Travel Plan

We are working extremely hard in partnership with Hampshire County Council Planning Team, Noadswood Secondary School, Orchard Junior School and our local MP's to make the rods outside of our school the safest they can be for our children, families and local community.

We were very lucky that Councillor Wade 'officially' opened our Scooter Parking Area with our Sustainability Superheroes and Members of Pupil Parliament!

Orchard Infant School took part in the 'Clean Air Scooter Challenge' - what fun the children had scooting to school. It started with a launch assembly by our Sustainability Superheroes who explained that scooting to school helps in reducing air pollution and positively impacts not only our physical health but our mental health too! What a great week...children were invited to 'scoot form their boots' or from their homes, and we were so proud yet again at how many children took part!

We have launched a new initiative from 'Living Streets' to encourage children to walk and wheel to school. The children took part in a whole school assembly, thinking about how walking and wheeling to school can be better for the body, the mind and the environment. The children got to meet 'Strider' the Living Street's Mascot and are now working hard to earn their sustainable badges each month!

Our Members of Pupil Parliament have been busy completing our travel audit of the roads surrounding our school, and have come up with ideas to improve them.

The children have been busy raising money for a new 'Scooter Parking Area' on our school grounds as a way of encouraging children to scoot to school.
